Service interruptions

Planned maintenance this weekend

The Australian Taxation Office and the Australian Securities & Investments Commission have scheduled system maintenance that will affect this service.

You can come back at any time to check the progress of your application on your application summary.

From 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Saturday 15 November 2025 (AEDT):

You will be able to save your application and submit it once the scheduled system maintenance is over.

Business name and company payment issues

We are currently experiencing connection problems with the Australian Securities & Investments Commission payment portal. This may affect you if you are applying for a business name or company using Google Chrome as a web browser.

To avoid issues, we recommend using Microsoft Edge or Firefox to apply for a business name or company.

If you have used Google Chrome and your payment screen has frozen or you have received a system error, you have not been charged.

What to do next:

Our team is working to fix the issue as quickly as possible. Thanks for your patience.

Please note: Additional tax registrations are only available if you already have an ABN.

What taxes can I register for?

You can apply for one or more of the following tax roles or registrations:

Why do I need a Digital ID?

A Digital ID (linked to an existing ABN) is required so we can access your existing ABN details.

This is the same process you would use if you logged in to the Australian Taxation Office systems to manage your ABN details or to add tax registrations or roles.

Don't have a login?

To apply for one or more tax registration, you'll need to register for a Digital ID and link it to your ABN using the Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM).

Digital ID

What is Digital ID?

Your Digital ID makes it quicker and easier for you to prove who you when accessing government services online. Once you create a Digital ID with an accredited identity provider, you can use it prove your identity on different government online services.

Linking your ABN to your Digital ID

To manage your business matters, such as apply for tax registrations, you will need to link your Australian business number (ABN) to your Digital ID. You can link your ABN to your Digital ID using the Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM).

Additional logins

You can use eligible online or 'cloud' accounting, bookkeeping or payroll software to process certain government tax forms.

Please note: the login options above are for specific tax paperwork. You'll still need to use your Digital ID to:

  • manage business name details or renewals
  • submit tax forms through 'SBR-enabled' accounting, bookkeeping or payroll desktop software.

Find out more about the online or 'cloud' software service on the ATO website.
